CCSO: Motorcyclist arrested for drugs after traffic stop, chase

ISLE OF PALMS, S.C. (WCIV) -- A Charleston County Sheriff's deputy arrested a motorcyclist after he fled a traffic stop and was caught with marijuana and cocaine.According to CCSO officials, it happened Sunday around 7:45 p.m. on J.C. Long and Ocean boulevards on Isle of Palms.The motorcyclist reportedly told the deputy who had stopped him that he was "going to the spot" and sped off.The deputy chased him down Palm Blvd as the motorcyclist, identified as 28-year-old Henry Oliver Nesbit Jr., "passed vehicles in the right-hand bicycle lane then passed other vehicles on the left at a high rate of speed," according to CCSO officials.That when deputies say Nesbit lost control and hit a mailbox near 4th Ave. The pursuing deputy found Nesbit lying in the roadway, injured.EMS took Nesbit to the hospital while deputies searched his bike. They found 2.3 grams of marijuana, 2.3.grams of cocaine and $2,918.78 in cash. Nesbit is charged with Failure to Stop for Blue lights, Failure to Signal, and being a Habitual Offender. Narcotics charges are pending from the Charleston County Sheriff's Office Metro Narcotics Division.The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
