Charleston airmen return after 60 day deployment

JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - About 120 members of the Air Force have returned to their home base in Charleston after a 60-day deployment overseas.

Staff Sgt. William O'Brien said Tuesday that members of the 16th Airlift Squadron have returned home safely following their deployment to Southwest Asia. O'Brien said he could not say exactly where the service members were deployed.

The crews flew and supported C-17 Globemaster transport aircraft during some 1,000 missions and logged more than 2,500 combat flying hours. The aircraft transported 36 million pounds and cargo and about 4,000 people during the deployment.
