Animal Society at max capacity; Animals need good homes

CHARLESTON, S.C (WCIV) -- The Charleston Animal Society is in desperate need of your help.

The animal shelter is currently at max capacity. Officials say every cage is full, and more than 100 animals need a good home.

The shelter is offering free adoptions for adult cats and dogs Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All animals come spayed or neutered, micro chipped and with current vaccinations.

"It's that time of year entering the summer months where we get slammed with lots of dogs coming into the shelter and system. We're overwhelmed, and we need the public to come out and adopt from us," said Joe Elmore, CEO of the Charleston Animal Society.

Puppies and kittens will also be offered at a reduced rate.
