Charleston, SC -- There are still plenty of unknowns so early in the year, but with pre-season camp just around the corner, Charleston Battery head coach Mike Anhaeuser has high hopes for his 2013 squad.
"We are definitely going to see a few players back and a few new faces that will strengthen the team," said Coach Anhaeuser.
Pre-season camp starts this Friday, February 8 and with 12 returning players, including Captain Colin Falvey and goal scorer Nicki Patterson, the Battery are potentially poised for another successful season. The rostered players will be joined by a handful of other talented players vying for the remaining spots on the team.
"Right now we are looking at about six to ten spots depending on our guys and depending on how we look at each position but it's always important to have some flexibility," Coach Anhaeuser noted.
As the team prepares for the Carolina Challenge Cup, coaches and players alike have their sites set on improving upon last year by winning the league and the championship. Although they won the USL Championship, the Battery came in 3rd in the league standings last year behind Rochester and Orlando respectively.
