      Charleston deputies issue warning on counterfeit bills

      NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Charleston County Sheriff's office on Monday issues a warning after investigating a pair of counterfeit bills.{}

      According to deputies, $100 bills were given to local businesses. Now deputies and the U.S. Secret Service are investigating the crimes, but officials do not have enough information to determine if the two counterfeit bills are related.{}

      Officials advise closely examining large bills for printing and border consistency, serial number spacing and the distinct paper that is used for U.S. currency.{}

      Officials say there are six serial number associated with the counterfeiting: LF 35542800C, LE 57708081A, LE 41401476B, LE 21628362B, LE 21605541B, and LE 41401474B.

      Call the Charleston County Sheriff's Office at 843-202-1700 to report any fraud or counterfeit issues.{}
