Charleston honors veterans with parade Nov. 8th

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center officials have released the plan for this year's Veterans Day Parade.

The parade, which starts at 10 a.m. November 8, will again feature multiple marching bands, historic military vehicles, motorcycle groups, and Veterans service organization floats.

Charleston Police officials released the parade's route information.Line-up is at N. Market and E. Bay St., running back on N. Market to Concord, Concord to Pritchard, Pritchard to Washington, Washington to Calhoun.

The parade begins by turning left onto E. Bay St., turns right onto Broad St., and continues to the "official" end at Colonial Lake. The break-down zone is on the curve of Broad & Lockwood, between Chisolm and Beaufain.

Parking Controls: The meters will be bagged along the line-up route on N. Market, Concord, Pritchard, and Washington.

Organizers say this parade is to honor and thank Lowcountry heroes of every generation, who selflessly served in our nation's military during times of peace or times of war.
