Charleston man arrested for beating, threatening to kill woman

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Police say a Charleston man early last month beat a woman and dragged her across a floor by her hair, then threatened to shoot her.

According to affidavits, Eric Leroy Vandyke was charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.

Court documents say 48-year-old Vandyke hit the mother of his 1-month-old child with an open and closed fist, and then dragged her across the floor while their child looked on. He allegedly grabbed a small handgun and threatened to kill her if she called police.

Vandyke was arrested and taken to the Al Cannon Detention Center. A bond amount has not been set.
