CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - If you blink, you may miss the quaint character of the Avondale neighborhood in West Ashley. Now, restaurants are pushing a new incentive to make sure their nook isn't looked over - Avondale Restaurant Week.

"Avondale Restaurant Week was something I just came up with after Charleston had restaurant week," said Michael Lotz, general manager for Triangle Char and Bar on Savannah Highway. "Not a lot of people trickled over here. We had a couple of restaurants that were participating, but we want so many people to come over and check out Avondale and see how many venues we have to offer."

Much like the price-fixed menu of Charleston Restaurant Week, five Avondale diners will offer 3 courses for $20.

"Pearlz, Mellow Mushroom, Al Di La, The Roost and myself," Lotz said.{} "We're going to do a couple of salads, we're going to offer a meat, a chicken and a fish for an entree and then we'll offer a dessert."

Lotz says his restaurant didn't take part in Charleston Restaurant Week, but he wants to offer his customers and new-comers the same type of convenience.

"We just don't really think it fits the bill for us. It's more of a Charleston restaurant week and we're not really kind of down in the Charleston area. We are more Avondale-type persons," Lotz said.

Lotz hopes to lure in more "Avondale-type" customers from outside of the area.

"We don't really know what to expect," he said. "This is the first time we've ever done it. But, what we'd like to see is a bunch of people that have never been here before come over and check out the area, have fun, bounce around. And, experience what Avondale has to offer."

Avondale Restaurant Week will be February 6 through 12. In addition to a price fix, the restaurants will offer complimentary valet parking.
