Charleston Walmart stores said $189K for MUSC Children's Hospital

      CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Walmart stores across the Charleston area teamed up to raise more than $189,000 over a six-week period for the MUSC Children's Hospital and Children's Miracle Network hospitals.{}

      The Goose Creek Walmart raised the most in the area, pulling in $45,962. Medical University of South Carolina officials said the store is ranked 16th in the country for CMN fundraising this year.

      On Friday, MUSC will be at the Goose Creek Walmart to thank employees and customers for the donations.

      "Because the donations ultimately come from the Walmart customers, we want to make sure the community is aware of how generous they were and how their donations make a difference in the lives of over 200,000 children that walk through the doors of MUSC each and every year," a release from the hospital reads.
