CHESTER, S.C. (AP) - State police say a member of the Chester City Council has been accused of threatening two of the city's police officials.
The State Law Enforcement Division says 70-year-old Odell Williams was arrested Wednesday and charged with threatening the life of a public official.
SLED says Williams directed racial slurs at the Chester police chief and another officer after a council meeting on March 10. Police say Williams told both officers he would "take them out," then put his hand in his pocket implying he had a weapon and knew how to use it.
Williams could face up to five years in prison if convicted. Police records listed no attorney for him, and there was no answer Thursday at a phone number listed for Williams' home.Copyright 2014 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
