Cinderella Project makes prom dreams come true

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Even Cinderella had a Fairy Godmother to help her get ready for the big dance. Now is your chance to help Lowcountry teens get ready for their prom and other special celebrations.

The Cinderella Project has helped to outfit teens for prom without worrying about the cost for the past 11 years. The group provides dresses, jewelry, shoes and other items free of charge.

This year's event is Saturday, March 24 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church on King Street.

Volunteers are needed for set up the day before the event, as well as to help in three hour shifts during the event. Positions include set up, break down, personal shoppers, organization, registration and passing out goodie bags to the attendees.

Donations are being accepted at a variety of pickup locations throughout the Lowcountry. You'll find that list at the bottom of this article. Businesses are also encouraged to donate gift cards to services to the cause. Examples include hair and nail salons, floral shops and restaurants.
