NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Another sex scandal has reached the gates of the Citadel but this time, it's prostitution.

Senior Associate Athletic Director Paul Plunkett, 61, was arrested for solicitation last month after police say he asked an undercover police officer for oral sex.

According to a police report from the North Charleston police, the NCPD SPEED team was conducting a prostitution enforcement operation on Remount Road and Dobson Drive Sept. 5.

Around 5 p.m. the report says Plunkett pulled up in his Blue Toyota and asked an undercover cop if she needed a ride. She said yes and told him to meet her on Leiderman Street. The report says she asked him "Do you just want some quick head" in the car and he said he did. The report also says she asked him how much he wanted to spend and he told her 30 dollars.

That's when other officers stopped Plunkett and arrested him for solicitation for prostitution.

Plunkett is listed on the Citadel's website as a "member of the Class of 1973" and has been part of their athletics program for four years.

As of Thursday morning, Plunkett was still employed at the Citadel, but once the story of his arrest broke, Jeff Perez, VP for external affairs, released the following statement:

"An employee at The Citadel, Robert P. Plunkett, pled guilty to a misdemeanor in North Charleston.{} He has been suspended without pay pending a review through the college's employee discipline policy."

According to North Charleston court records, Plunkett pleaded guilty on Tuesday to one charge of solicitation for prostitution.
