City hears from residents about skate park
JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) -- James Island officials said they wanted to hear from the public about a proposed new skate park, and residents complied.
A public hearing on the proposed park was packed Wednesday night. Planners had said before the meeting they hoped to see about 200 people at the hearing.
The park is planned for a site near the foot of the Ravenel Bridge linking Charleston and Mount Pleasant. It will feature elements for both skateboarders and BMX bike riders.
The county and the city of Charleston have been working with the state Transportation Department and the Federal Highway Administration on developing the park.
