Claims of abuse surface at Syracuse University

SYRACUSE, NY (AP) -- An assistant basketball coach at Syracuse University has been placed on administrative leave tonight after a claim that he molested a ball boy for more than a dozen years.

According to information obtained from ESPN/Outside the Lines, the alleged victim is now 39 years old.{} He told police Bernie Fine molested him, and that the abuse started in the 1980's.{} The alleged victim's stepbrother also said he was molested by Fine around the same time.

In the ESPN report, police stress they are early in their investigation and say head basketball coach Jim Boeheim was never informed of the alleged molestation.
