ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) - A 19-year-old man who ambushed a couple in their cleaning van during a robbery in Orangeburg County has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.
The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reports (http://bit.ly/1gU2ER0 ) Demetric Quattlebaum pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter earlier this month and received the maximum sentence.
Authorities say Quattlebaum was one of four men who blocked the cleaning van with an SUV in Santee in June 2012 and opened fire, killing 31-year-old Kathy Davis. Investigators say the men saw the van's driver cash a check.
Twenty-year-old Deshaun Fordham pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to 30 years, while 22-year-old Donte Stokes pleaded guilty to murder ad received 38 tears. The fourth suspect, 20-year-old Jerry McKnight pleaded guilty to being an accessory and was sentenced to 11 years.
