COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Jadeveon Clowney believes he's the NFL's No. 1 draft pick and says he took a big step toward that goal during South Carolina's pro day workouts Wednesday.
The 6-foot-5, 266-pound defensive end did position drills in front of dozens of NFL personnel, including Houston head coach Bill O'Brien and Jacksonville head coach Gus Bradley. Clowney ran through cones, jumped over hurdles and caught tennis balls as he took part in the defensive line workouts he passed on at the NFL combine last February.
Clowney did not lift weights or run the 40-yard dash, standing on his combine showings.
Clowney spent Tuesday night at dinner with the Houston Texans, including O'Brien, defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel and general manager Rick Smith. The Texans have the top selection in May's draft.Copyright 2014 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
