HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina Congressman Jim Clyburn says the nation needs more affordable care clinics like the one that was dedicated over the weekend near Hilton Head Island.
The Island Packet of Hilton Head reports that Clyburn was on hand Sunday to help dedicate a new $6 million clinic in Okatie.
The Ruth P. Fields Medical Center is the newest clinic for Beaufort-Jasper-Hampton Comprehensive Health Services. Money for the clinic came from the federal stimulus act. Clyburn pushed for money in the law for such health centers, including 20 in South Carolina.
The new center replaces a smaller, aging facility nearby.
