Coast Guard Charleston rescues injured boater in harbor
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - Members of Coast Guard Station Charlestonrescued an injured boater Friday 14 miles southeast of Charleston Harbor.
According to the Coast Guard, the 54-year-old man suffered aburn while he was aboard the Aqua Pearl. Coast Guard Sector Charlestonwatchstanders briefed a Coast Guard flight surgeon who recommended the man bemedically evacuated.
Station Charleston crewmembers were launched aboard a45-foot Response Boat-Medium to recover the patient. Station Charlestoncrewmembers arrived on scene at 12:02 p.m. and transferred the man from hisvessel onto the RB-M and transported him back to shore where an EMS crew waswaiting.
The man was handed off to EMS at approximately 1:10 p.m.From there, EMS took him to Medical University Hospital.
