CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A fisherman was rescued by a Coast Guard crew Sunday morning. The man was about 45 miles east of Bull's Bay.
According to Coast Guard officials, Guardsmen picked up the distress call of the fisherman around 8:30 a.m. The man was suffering from chest pains and stomach complications, officials said.
The Coast Guard's flight surgeon recommended the fisherman be airlifted from the 44-foot fishing vessel Warrior III.
An hour after the call came in, the Coast Guard helicopter took off and had the man hoisted and on his way back by 10:20 a.m. EMS crews awaiting the helicopter's arrival took over care at 11 a.m.
The fisherman was in stable condition, officials said.
