MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) - The second-ranked Cougars will take the field again at Patriots Point for a doubleheader Saturday as they try to strike out cancer.
The College of Charleston softball team will take on Drexel and wear special gray jerseys in honor of brain cancer awareness and will auction off the jerseys after the game. Proceeds will go to cancer research.
Attendees can also make "K Pledges" that let people bid a dollar amount per strikeout in Saturday's games.
The first pitch will be thrown out by Allen Hodgson, the father of senior Kelsey Hodgson. Allen Hodgson is currently battling brain cancer.
Last season, the Cougars raised more than $1,3000 with the Beat Cancer with a Bat campaign.
Games start at 4 p.m. Saturday and the women will take the field for a series finale Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
