COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) -- Colleton County Sheriff R.A. Strickland was taken to a hospital after being involved in an accident Tuesday afternoon, Highway Patrol officials said.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Strickland was traveling north on Highway 63, turning left on Mabel T. Willis Road when a woman traveling on Mabel T. Willis Road failed to yield to a stop sign.
Troopers said the woman hit the gas instead of the brake and T-boned Strickland's car.
Strickland was taken by EMS to Colleton Medical Center. He was discharged a short time later, but it is unknown if he will return to work Wednesday.
The woman was not injured.
