Columbia hosting summit on climate, energy

{}COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Leaders from fields including government, business and environmental preservation are gathering in Columbia to talk about climate concerns.

Mayor Steve Benjamin is hosting the city's first Famously Hot Climate Action Summit on Thursday at EdVenture Children's Museum.

The meeting follows news that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is setting national carbon pollution standards for the country's existing power plants.

Benjamin says he hopes the meeting will help facilitate an honest discussion about the effects of climate change and ways to combat future challenges.
