ISLE OF PALMS, S.C. (WCIV) - Cloudy, windy and cool.

That's how Good Friday started in the Lowcountry. And even though it wasn't ideal beach weather, a few people decided to brave the cool and windy weather during their spring break.

"Well, we decided to come to Isle of Palms for a nice beach day, but it's really freezing outside," Kayla Bray from Lexington, S.C. said.

But Kayla and her friends didn't let that stop them!

"We went out on the cold, cold beach. The water was really warm thoughreally warm, but once you got out it was woo!" said Tyler, Kayla, Jennifer, and Jenna, all from Lexington, S.C.

Charleston Southern University student, Greg Krolikowski, has had this beach day planned and decided the chilly weather wasn't going to be an obstacle, since he is from up north.

"I mean the water is freezing up in New York, so it's always warm down here so I just assume it's going to be the same as it is when I'm up in New York," Krolikowski said.

While his friends stayed on the beach, he ran into the water.

"It's really warm, it's a lot warmer than being outside," Krolikowski said. "It's a little chilly but not too bad."

No one wanted to battle the chill, so the beach chairs which{}are usually filled with people, were folded up underneath the boardwalk.

"I wanted to get just a little bit burnt so that it could turn into a tan, but that didn't happen," Martha Lundberg from Lexington S.C said.

Although the weather didn't cooperate, folks had back-up plans.

"Probably shopanother girl's favorite," Lundberg said.

Warmer weather is expected to return for the rest of Easter weekend.
