Coroner: Body found near area of boater search

LITTLE RIVER, S.C. (AP) - Horry County officials say authorities have recovered the body of a man thought to be a boater missing near Little River.

Boats and divers were searching in the Little River Inlet on Sunday for a person who was reportedly hit by a boat. Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick confirmed a man died near the scene Sunday evening and thinks it to be the missing boater. The victim's name was not immediately released.

Boat and dive teams with Horry County joined the U.S. Coast Guard and the Department of Natural Resources in the search.

Authorities say five people were on the shore when their pontoon boat began drifting off. They say when a man went back into the water to retrieve the boat and disappeared.
