Coroner: Man found dead in Givhans was murdered

GIVHANS, S.C. (WCIV) -- A Moncks Corner man found dead in Givhans was shot in the back of the head, according to the coroner's office.

Drew Mitsuo Shumway's{}body was found in the Dorchester County town of Givhans on Friday. The 24-year-old man had been missing for several days.{}

Shumway had been reported missing from his Moncks Corner home about a week ago.{}

According to a Berkeley County Sheriff's Office incident report, deputies were called to Shumway's home on April 6 to meet with Devonna Huff, Shumway's fiancee, who was reporting him missing.{}

Huff told deputies that Shumway had gone to pick up a friend the afternoon before and she had not heard from him since, the report states. She tried calling him, she told deputies, but he never answered.{}

Huff told deputies that Shumway suffered from a form of sciatica that requires daily medication, the report states. Deputies contact Shumway's father who lives in California. He said he had not had any contact with Shumway.

Deputies in Dorchester and Berkeley counties have not said whether Shumway's silver Saturn sedan has been found.

A Dorchester County Sheriff's Office report revealed no new details on Shumway's death.
