NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A pizza delivery man shot during a robbery at an apartment complex Friday night has died.

Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet said the man died from a gunshot wound to the head. Nisbet identified the man as Maraleius Birdsong. He said the 20-year-old was two months from turning 21.

Investigators say Birdsong went to the address at the Appian Way apartment complex near Patriot Boulevard where he was to deliver the pizza and learned from the residents no pizza had been ordered.

As he returned to his car, he was robbed and shot.

Witnesses say two men were seen running away from the apartments after the shooting.

North Charleston Police Department spokesman Spencer Pryor said investigators have arrested 18-year-old Stephawn Sherrod Brown in connection to Birdson's death. Among other charges, Pryor said Brown will be charged with murder.

Brown appeared in bond court Sunday. He was issued a $12,500 bond on lesser charges. No bond was set on the murder charge.
