MT. PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- A specially called meeting with just one item on the agenda could go a long way towards planning for the future in Mount Pleasant. As one town council member put it, it will not be a glitzy meeting but a very important one. The future development of the Town Of Mount Pleasant is up for continued discussion. Town council members will review and discuss the update to the town's comprehensive plan Tuesday.State law requires that a new plan be adopted every 10 years and that an update be conducted every five years. Over the past several months much of the towns physical, social and economic growth has been debated. Council will review and discuss the changes made so far including the hot button topic of height restrictions for buildings along Coleman Boulevard and Shem Creek.{} Earlier this month they agreed to drop the height limit to 45 feet between Live Oak Drive and the creek. They also decided to keep the 75 foot allowance on parts of Coleman but said that taller buildings have to be built away from the street.The special council meeting will be held at noon Tuesday at the Mount Pleasant Municipal Complex.{}
