NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Police say a 17-year-old girl was on her way to a party when she was assaulted by a man she knew as a friend of the family.

According to the police report, the girl was at a bus stop last March to catch a CARTA bus to a friend's birthday party. The victim told police that the brother of a family friend pulled up and asked if she wanted a ride. She told police she was familiar with the man so she accepted.

On the way to the party, the victim said the suspect, 33-year-old Johnathan B. Clayton, Sr. parked his SUV and grabbed at the girl's chest and tried to pull her shirt off. When she fought back, she said he stopped but then exposed himself.

When he was finished and had cleaned up, the victim said they continued on to the party where she reported what happened to the suspect's sister who then advised her to go to the police.

When police caught up to Clayton, according to the report, they found that he already had a warrant out from NCPD for promoting prostitution of a minor.

He was charged with first degree assault and battery. He was given $150,000 bond for both charges.
