CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Police responded to a Sequoia Street home after an argument over a computer password turned bloody.

According to the police report, 24-year-old Kristin Simmons is charged with assault and battery in the second degree after hitting his brother James in the head so hard with a metal mop handle, that there was a quarter-sized hole in his temple with tissue hanging out.

Police said they found James sitting in a chair with a blood-soaked towel covering the wound. At one point, officers report his eyes rolled up into his head, he passed out then awoke confused and jumped up to run out the door. Police say he got as far as the parking lot before passing out again which is where EMS picked him up.

The mother told police the brothers were wrestling in her bedroom while she was trying to sleep and that they were fighting over the password to the computer. She said she tried to stop the fight by going downstairs to put the password in herself and then went back to bed.

The fight continued, however, which is when another witness said she saw Kristin swing the mop handle, hit James over the head, and the handle breaking from the impact.

Police said there was a child in the home at the time of the incident, but did not witness the violence.
