CPD: Man walking dog finds body, motorcycle in grass

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- One person is dead after a motorcycle accident in downtown Charleston, said officials with the Charleston Police Department.

The coroner has identified the victim as 29-year old William Jackson Duncan from West Ashley. The coroner said Duncan died of blunt force trauma after he and motorcycle fell off the overpass coming from Mount Pleasant.

Officials said someone walking his dog spotted Duncan and his motorcycle in a grassy area beneath an overpass near the Huger Street off-ramp to the Ravenel Bridge.

Officials at the scene tell us it is possible the motorcycle fell off the bridge ramp heading into Charleston.

Investigators said "excessive speed" contributed to the accident and they are still trying to determine if there were other factors.
