CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Charleston Water Service representatives have confirmed that a large water main has broken on Skylark Drive. Police have closed the road and customers may lose water while repairs are going on.
According to Jenny Craft with CWS, the main is a 24 inch pipe that's gushing a lot of water into the area. She said crews will have to shut off the water and isolate that pipe to make repairs to the break.
They are working to identify which customers will have their water shut off but she said they will include several office buildings, restaurants and shopping centers in the area.
Drivers are advised to find an alternate route. Skylark Drive is a short connecting road for Sam Rittenberg and Savannah Hwy so it will be easy to just go around the closure.
