CCSO: Cyclist hit on Folly Beach has died
FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCIV) -- A bicyclist was killed in an accident on Folly Beach TUesday evening.
According to Charleston County deputies, the accident happened shortly before 5 p.m. at the intersection of East Cooper Avenue and 5th Street East.
The coroner's office identified the man as 47-year-old Stanley Borkowski.
Deputies said an investigation revealed that the cyclist did not stop for a posted stop sign and was hit by an SUV. It was impossible for the SUV driver to avoid hitting the cyclist, deputies concluded.
The cyclist was reportedly taken to Medical University Hospital by EMS where he later died.
Deputies said there are no charges pending against the SUV driver.
