DCSO: Woman killed in Starlite Club shooting was celebrating her birthday

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) -- One person is dead and four are injured after a shooting outside of the Starlite Lounge in St. George on Sunday, said officials with the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office.The shooting happened at about 2 a.m. at 243 Hudson Road, deputies said.

According to an incident report, deputies were flagged down by a driver who said he had a gunshot victim in his backseat. The victim was identified as Sierra Truesdale of Goose Creek who turned 23 on Sunday.

Witnesses say they saw Truesdale crouched behind the car, trying to take cover from the gunfire that had erupted. They then found her lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Truesdale's friends told deputies that they were celebrating her birthday. They said everyone was dancing and having a good time until a Walterboro group known as the "Cowboys" walked in, put American flag bandannas over their faces, walked out of the club and "fired off rounds" before leaving the scene.

Four more victims later showed up at the Colleton Medical Center. They had been taken there by witnesses at the scene who initially stopped to tell deputies they had victims in their SUVs before speeding off with their hazard lights on.

One of the victims was there because she hurt her leg fleeing from the scene.

Another man was shot in the shoulder as he opened his car door to yell for his brother to run from the gunfire.

The third victim, a woman, was shot in her right arm and midsection.

A fourth woman came in later with what appeared to be a bullet graze to her foot.

No arrests have been made. The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office is investigating.If you have any information about the incident, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
