Dealership turns Facebook likes into big bucks for food banks
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Hendrick Auto Group has started the year off with a push for traffic on their Facebook page and they're willing to pay for it.
The Charleston Drive for Hunger campaign runs from January 2 until January 14. During those two weeks, Hendrick AG Charleston has pledged to make a dollar donation for every 'Like' they receive on their Facebook page.
The money will go to The Lowcountry Food Bank and East Cooper Community Outreach with a donation goal of $8,000 to be shared by the two organizations.
The public is asked to participate by clicking 'Like' on Facebook/Charleston Drive.
"Local care-giving organizations answer huge demands during the holiday season and often start the New Year with depleted supplies, said Paul Whatley, General Manager of Rick Hendrick Toyota/Scion in North Charleston. "We cant think of a better way to begin the New Year than by helping jump start community giving."
According to the Charleston Drive Facebook Page, as of the writing of this article they have 1,744 'Likes.' They haven't had a new 'Like' since Dec. 27.
"We want to jumpstart 2013 for giving to those who are less fortunate," said Hendrick AG General Manager Donald Smith.
