JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is scheduled to stop in South Carolina to take a tour of Joint Base Charleston.
Hagel is on a three-day trip to domestic bases and visits Charleston on Wednesday before flying on to Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.
During his visit, Hagel will learn about flying and support operations conducted by the Air Force in Charleston. He will also meet with representatives from Boeing who will demonstrate the engine maintenance support the company provides the Air Force.
Later, Hagel attends a town hall meeting with about 300 Department of Defense civilian employees to discuss the federal budget sequestration and civilian worker furloughs in the department.
