Delivery truck driver shot, suspect still on the run

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Police responded to a report of shots fired on East Montague Avenue Monday afternoon.

It happened shortly before 1 p.m. on the 1700 block of E. Montague Ave.{}

Officers report they found a male victim who told them he was outside of his delivery truck when he heard shots fired and realized he was struck.{}

According to a police report, the victim was shot in his side when he behind his Budweiser delivery truck on the Tommy lift. His coworker dragged him inside the back of the truck when he realized what had happened.

Witness told police a black male in dark clothing got out of a brown PT Cruiser and fired several shots toward the Budweiser truck.

The suspect is described as wearing a black hoodie and jeans, with shoulder-length dread locks and was seen running from the area down E. Montague Avenue. Witnesses said he has a slim build, weighing about 155 pounds.

Police say the victim was taken to MUSC with a non-life threatening injury.

Investigators canvassed the area with K9 units looking for a suspect matching the description but did not locate him. About five .38 automatic shell casings were found at the scene.
