Democratic Governors releases ad critical of Haley
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The Democratic Governors Association's first TV ad of 2014 in South Carolina criticizes Gov. Nikki Haley's child welfare agency.
The ad released Wednesday comes four months before Democratic state Sen. Vincent Sheheen's rematch with Haley.
It features a former Department of Social Services attorney saying she resigned because the agency's emphasis on better numbers endangered children. A bi-partisan panel of senators has held hearings on that accusation since January.
Former DSS Director Lillian Koller resigned last month. Haley had repeatedly backed Koller despite increasing calls for her departure. Her campaign has accused Democrats of playing politics with children's lives.
Sheheen's first ad of the season, released in May, also criticized DSS.
The Republican Governors Association has already released at least five ads criticizing Sheheen.Copyright 2014 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
