Deputies investigating two early-morning accidents

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - Charleston County deputies are looking into two early morning wrecks that happened within minutes of each other.

According to deputies, the first accident happened at 1:37 a.m. on Folly Road near the Oasis Bar. Deputies say they went to the location after receiving calls of a pedestrian being hit by a car.

Deputies said an intoxicated woman left the bar and walked into traffic. She was hit by a car that left the scene after the incident.

Officials asked for witnesses to come forward, but no one claimed to have seen the accident.

About 10 minutes later, deputies were sent to the intersection of River and Main roads on Johns Island for a single-car accident.

Deputies said a car traveling above the speed limit left the roadway and hit a tree. One person was seriously injured and another sustained life-threatening injuries.

Both people were taken by EMS to a nearby hospital. Officials did not have information on their conditions.

The accident remains under investigation by the Charleston County Sheriff's Office traffic Division.
