WALTERBORO, S.C. (WCIV) -- Colleton County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a man they believe was involved in a shooting that happened on December 10 at the Ashepoo Grocery store.

The suspect, 21-year-old Charlie Martin was arrested Friday morning in Walterboro.

Deputies said Martin was wanted for attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, & possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

On Dec. 10, deputies responded to the store on Ace Basin Parkway for reports of two groups of black males in two different vehicles exchanging gunfire. One caller told deputies that at least two people had been shot.

One of the suspect vehicles was found on Green Pond Hwy and four people were detained including a 19-year-old man with two gunshot wounds. Another person was detained at a nearby home with the second vehicle.

Investigators linked the shooting at Ashepoo Grocery with another shooting that happened in Walterboro just two hours prior. They believe both incidents are linked to gang activity.
