Deputies: Man robs fast food restaurant near Ravenel

RAVENEL, S.C. (WCIV) -- A man armed with a handgun and wearing a mask robbed the Burger King on Savannah Highway in Ravenel Wednesday night, Charleston County deputies said.{}

According to officials, deputies were called to the restaurant shortly before 10 p.m. Witnesses said the man was wearing a mask and hoodie and had a handgun. He demanded money from the cash drawer and the safe, deputies said.{}

Deputies tried to track the man with K-9 units but the dogs were unable to pick up the scent.{}

Deputies say the man is close to 6 feet tall, in his 20s, and was last seen wearing green pants and a black hoodie. He escaped with at least $1,000, according to the incident report.

While responding to the robbery, one deputy lost control of his car and flipped it several times on Highway 165. He was taken to a nearby hospital.{}
