Deputies searching for man who robbed Hilton Head hotel

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) -- Beaufort County deputies are looking for a man they say robbed early Thursday morning the Metropolitan Hotel on Hilton Head Island.

According to deputies, a black man walked into the employee's office, told the clerk he had a gun, and demanded all the money in the office.{}

Deputies say the man did not show a weapon, but the clerk did see a bulge in the right pocket of the suspect that she thought might be a gun. The man got away with some cash and a laptop valued at $600.{}

The suspect is described as ablack male 32-40 years of age, approximately 5'10" and 150 pounds. The suspectwas wearing black sagging sweat pants with cargo pockets, a black top and black skull cap.

The sheriff's officeestablished a perimeter along Pope Avenue, Cordillo Parkway and South ForestBeach Drive, officials said. K-9 units responded andconducted a criminal track but were unsuccessful.{}

The robbery is underinvestigation by the Southern Investigations Section of the Beaufort CountySheriff's Office.
