Robbery suspect turns himself in

RAVENEL, S.C. (WCIV) -- Charleston County sheriff's deputies are asking for the public's help to find a suspect in a Sept. 17 robbery in Ravenel.

Investigators say Derrick Santel Brown, 21, robbed a driver at the intersection of Chinnis Side Road and Brown Way Road. According to deputies, Brown, who is also knows as "Lil Scrappy," demanded money from the driver and struck the driver after being told he didn't have any money.

Deputies said Brown took the driver's keys.

Brown is 5-feet 8-inches tall and weighs 150 pounds.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Derrick Santel Brown AKA "Lil Scrappy" is asked to contact the Charleston County Sheriff's Office at 843-202-1700, Detective Charles Lawrence at 843-408-2672 or Crime Stoppers at 843-554-1111.

Update: Derrick Brown turned himself in to Charleston County Detectives and a member of the U.S. Marshall's Office Task Force October 8, at 10:30 p.m. He was taken into custody without incident.
