Deputies surround James Island home after man makes threats
JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) -- Charleston County deputies surrounded a James Island home Friday afternoon after getting reports the man was making threats towards other people in the neighborhood.
According to officials, the man is in a home on Dills Bluff Road and several nearby streets are blocked off.
Officials described the man as mentally unstable and said he was making threats against people at a nearby church. However, officers are negotiating with the man and trying to convince him surrender.Deputies said they do not know what prompted the man to start making threats.
Deputies did not say whether the man was carrying any weapons. He surrendered sometime after 8 p.m., deputies said, and was taken to a nearby hospital for a medical evaluation.
