Deputies: Victim thinks Hollywood shooting was retaliation for earlier crime
HOLLYWOOD, S.C. (WCIV) - Deputies are investigating a shooting that happened early Wednesday morning in Hollywood.
According to Charleston County deputies, a man checked himself into Bon Secours St. Francis shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday with a gunshot wound to his arm and chest.
The man told deputies he was walking along Ethel Post Office Road towards Peters Field Road when a black Dodge Charger passed him and turned around. When the vehicle passed him a second time, someone inside the car put down a window, shouted at him, and fired a single shot.
Deputies said it appeared the man had been hit with small game pellets from a shotgun.
A short time later, the man's cousin passed him and helped him to the hospital, according to the report.
When deputies asked the man who would want to hurt him, he reportedly said he had just been released from jail on an assault and battery charge, and he thought the victim's family might want to hurt him.
