Descendant of SC colonial leader visits Charleston
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A descendant of one of South Carolina's colonial governors is visiting Charleston.
Lord Christopher Lyttelton is descended from William Henry Lyttelton, who served as royal governor of South Carolina from 1755 until 1760.
Christopher Lyttelton visits with Mayor Joe Riley and tours Charleston City Hall on Friday.
William Lyttelton served as president of the Charleston Library Society when he was colonial governor. His descendant is in Charleston to help commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Library Society Building in the city's historic district.
It's Lord Christopher Lyttelton's second visit to South Carolina. He also accompanied his father to Charleston in 1970 as the state marked its 300th anniversary.Copyright 2014 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
