Man buys lottery ticket on Folly Road worth $400K

      CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A Lowcountry lottery player found out he was holding a ticket worth $400,000.{}

      South Carolina Lottery officials say a winning Palmetto Cash 5 ticket was bought at the Kangaroo Express on Folly Road.

      All five numbers on the ticket matched Saturday's to win $100,000. The odds of winning $400,000 were 1 in 4,015,536.

      Officials said the lucky ticket holder chose to "Power-Up" for an additional $1, so the $100,000 top prize was multiplied to $400,000.

      The winning numbers were: 12, 14, 21, 27, and{}32{}{} Power-Up: 4

      The winner told Lottery officials that he was shaking when he found out he won and that while he's won $5 or $10 before, he has never been this lucky.

      "I don't know why it happened to me," he said.{} "I can't explain it and can't understand it."

      Officials said since the winner is now debt free, he plans to honor his winning numbers by continuing to play them once a month.

      For selling the winning Palmetto Cash 5 ticket, The Kangaroo Express got a commission of $4,000.
