Police: Man fired warning shots to scare off another man

      NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - Police say a man fired several warning shots into the air at a North Charleston parking lot to scare off another man who was harassing him for a ride.

      According to Charleston County Dispatch, there were reports of multiple shots being fired near 7400 Rivers Avenue. Officials said police are looking for a black man driving a Dodge Avenger in the direction of Ashley Phosphate Road.

      Police were told by witnesses that two men were having a conversation when one of the men got into a car to drive away and fired several shots into the air as he left.

      The man called Charleston County Dispatch moments later and told officials he had fired his weapon to scare off the other man, according to police.

      There were no injuries, police said.

      The man who fired the shots has been detained by police, but officers did not say whether he would be charged.
