Coroner IDs boy who drowned in Hollywood pond

HOLLYWOOD, S.C. (WCIV) -- Rescue crews were called to a pond in Hollywood Monday evening to rescue a person in the water. Charleston County Sheriff's officials said a teen's body was pulled from the water a short time later.{}Officials said two teens were playing in the water; when of the them went under and did not surface, the other ran for help. After a search, officials found the body of the lifeless teen.The coroner's office identified the boy as 13-year-old Genesis Holmes. His cause of death was listed as drowning.According to Charleston County Dispatch officials, the teen's body was found off of Highway 162 in Hollywood. Rescue officials said several dive crews have responded to the area to help in the search from Charleston County Rescue, the Department of Natural Resources, and the sheriff's office.The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is investigating the boy's death.The teen was a student at Lowcountry Leadership Charter School. Officials posted the following message on the school's website Tuesday morning."LLCS is experiencing a very tragic loss at this time - the loss of one of our 7th grade students.{}{} Grief Counselors will be available for our students who need to speak with them.{} We will operate on a flexible schedule to try to meet our students needs during this very sad time.{} PASS testing for Tuesday, May 6 has been postponed.{} Please direct any and all questions to{} We are receiving a large volume of messages and will respond as quickly as we can."
