EMS: 1 killed, 1 seriously injured, 3 others hurt in I-26 crash

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- One person was seriously injured, another was killed, and three others were injured in a four-car accident Saturday afternoon in the westbound lanes of Interstate 26.According to Charleston County Dispatch officials, one person was trapped in a car and crews were trying to pull the woman out. The wreck happened near the Remount Road exit on I-26 around 3 p.m.According Charleston County EMS, one person was killed, another person is in critical condition and three others are in stable condition as a result of the crash.The state Department of Transportation shut down the westbound lanes between exit 213 and 211 for several hours. Cars were rerouted off the highway.The coroner's office identified the crash victim as 20-year-old Omea Johnson, of Charleston.South Carolina Highway Patrol officials said Johnson was driving a Mazda and side-swiped another vehicle when she tried to get off the interstate, which caused a chain reaction. Johnson's car hit a retaining wall and killed her.{}Officials said no charges would be filed because Johnson was the driver at fault.{}
