CHARLESTON,S.C. (WCIV) - The South Carolina Department of NaturalResources said Thursday that it was expanding the DNR Online Customer ServicePortal to make it easier to apply for licenses, registrations, and permits.
According to DNR, there are135,000 online transactions for permits and licenses annually along with morethan 500,000 point-of-sale transactions made throughout the state. In all, thenatural resources department handles 1.4 million license transactions eachyear, officials said.
DNR officials said Thursdaythat all of the payments would now be filtered through the new portal and thestate's secure payment system.
"With more and more of ourhunters and anglers adopting new technologies like smart phones and tablets, itonly made sense to give them a system that is convenient, easy-to-use, and fitstheir outdoor lifestyle," said Don Winslow, Deputy Director of Outreach andSupport Services with the SC Department of Natural Resources.
Officials said the upgraderenders the registration site based on how the user is viewing it - on adesktop or laptop, a tablet, or a mobile phone.
"This is part of DNR'scontinued efforts to transform how we can serve our customers more efficientlyand effectively, by providing our state's hunters and anglers with additionalfeatures and functionality through the convenient and secure DNR OnlineCustomer Service Portal."
